Word spreads among visitors about UAE’s first Geological Park

It will convey deserts, mountains, dunes and oases

AL AIN (UAE) -UAE opens its first Geological Park at Al Jahili Garden in Al Ain to highlight the country’s major geological features. It will convey deserts, mountains, dunes and oases and their position in relation to the sun, shade and the wind. The newly-built pavilion will feature 22 carefully chosen rocks.
Suhail Al Muhairi, Executive Director of Infrastructure and Assets Sector at Al Ain City Municipality, says the park will combine education and leisure, creating a new style. The new park reflects UAE's environmental and natural diversity and is an outdoor natural history museum. Visitors can now take in the unique experience as authorities prepare to officially declare it open later this year, according to an article published by the Gulf News daily today.
Dr. Mattar Al Nuaimi, General Manager of Al Ain Municipality, said, "The Geological Park forms a natural museum that disseminates information concerned with UAE. nature and its geographical diversity." Al Ain Municipality had been following the directives of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and implementing new ideas in the current construction boom in the oasis city, he said.
The park will soon have more geological samples from other areas of the Emirates, along with a team of devoted tour guides, who received custom-made training at the UAE University (UAEU), who will receive visitors at the park to answer their queries.
The UAE has varied geological traits that motivate scientists and students to study and take pleasure in nature. The park has a shop and education area that will provide information about rocky formations and bedrocks in the UAE.
"The park is an initiative to blend education with leisure and shape up yet another tourism hot spot in Al Ain," said Abdullah Sultan Al Deri, Head of Research and Development Section at Al Ain Municipality.
Shaikh Hazza said that Al Ain is moving fast towards providing distinctive services and facilities based on the best international standards.
