Abu Dhabi International Book Fair kicks off with 500,000 titles

Sheikh Tahnoun opened ADIBF

ABU DHABI - Around 500,000 titles are showcased at the 22nd International Abu Dhabi Book Fair (ADIBF) which opened its doors Wednesday in the UAE capital.
The six-day Book Fair, which is organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, is held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Visitors have the opportunity to browse through the hundreds of thousands of titles showcased by more than 900 exhibitors from 54 countries.
Over 200 events will take place in the Fair, including workshops, meetings, children’s activities and networking sessions.
Panel sessions will also be held for renowned authors to discuss their latest works and current trends affecting the publishing industry.
Jumaa Abdulla Al Qubaisi, Director of ADIBF, said that the Fair “offers a range of new initiatives to bring authors and readers together, such as autograph (Tawqee) sessions and the Creativity Corner where families can receive tips from authors and exhibitors regarding reading and writing practices. The Children's Corner will also have programmes dedicated to children with special needs.”
ADIBF is the perfect platform for business-to-business opportunities in the publishing industry with a rich and diverse cultural consumer programme.
The Fair’s organisers are proud of its eco-friendly initiatives as all its marketing collaterals, including brochures and folders, have been printed on special recycled paper. In addition, all giveaway items for the book fair are being produced from recycled paper, fabric and biodegradable material, thus consolidating its “Green Fair” status.
