Mauritania, Qatar boost ties with fresh accords

NOUAKCHOTT - Mauritania and Qatar on Thursday signed a raft of fresh accords to boost ties in fields such as tourism, health, finance and agriculture, during a one-day visit by the emir to Nouakchott.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani held discussions with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz before signing the agreements which will also see Mauritanian workers used in the Middle Eastern nation.
Other agreements signed deal with sustainable development, justice, information and finance. The two countries already cooperate in fields such as energy and social affairs.
The National Bank of Qatar recently opened a branch in Mauritania and the emir's wife has financed a social development foundation in the country to fight illiteracy and rehabilitate youths.
